Adobe
Guadalupe Vineyards and Inn
Adobe
Guadalupe is a working winery, plus a bed and breakfast with six guest
rooms. We are located in the Guadalupe Valley near Ensenada, Baja
California. The successful wineries in the Guadalupe Valley today
continue the tradition begun by the Russian immigrants who, arriving
with their vine cuttings in 1904, planted the valley's first vineyards.
The Guadalupe
Valley is about two-thirds the size of Napa Valley and weather conditions
there are quite similar to those in southwestern France. Grapes are
looked after with the utmost of care, and the wines rival any produced
in the new world.
We have
60 acres of vineyards where we grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Nebbiolo,
Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo, Shiraz and a bit of Viognier grapes.
We started our vineyards in 1998 and had our first harvest in 2000.
Wines
At Adobe
Guadalupe we are proud of our wines; most of them have won prizes
in Mexico and Spain.
We planted
grapes with the intention of starting a winery and in 2000 we had
our first harvest. In 2004, we fully realized our dream with the completion
of our winery and cellar room.
Hugo
D'Acosta is our winemaker. There is no doubt that the three Adobe
Guadalupe wines are eclectic and "ethereal" blends. All
are named after archangels names. Our wines are well balanced and
extremely fruity that will certainly have people talking (and drinking)
for many years to come
Vineyards
Adobe
Guadalupe has its own vineyards where we produce different grape varietals
like: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Tempranillo, Nebbiolo,
Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvedre, Merlot and Viognier. We usually harvest
in August and September during the traditional Fiestas de la Vendimia.
During these Fiestas there are many events scheduled at different
wineries in the valley. Our event at Adobe Guadalupe is a Gala Dinner
where we conduct an auction of which the proceeds go to scholarships
for the young people in the Valley of Guadalupe.
