Joanna
Jones Galeria Artes
Come
for the Art... Stay for the Food!
Joanna
Jones galeria is as unique as its owner. Frequent visitors who travel
the Old Ensenada Road often remark on the multi-coloured building
in Cantamar on the west side that looks like part San Franciso Victorian
and part psychedelic church. It is nestled among a jungle of greenery
and serves as art gallery, Mediterranean café bistro, clever
collection of Mexican and indigenous art and meeting place for artists,
writers, musicians, local patrons, old hippies and young bohemians.
It is the dream of Joanna that came true. She traveled the world,
worked in the film and TV business and when she was ready to leave
that whirlwind lifestyle behind she chose Cantamar and the building
which has become a valued roadside stop for some of Baja's most interesting
people.
Joanna has an eye for good art and encourages locals to display their
works. She also has a taste for good food; her menu reflects touches
of French and Italian home cooking. Local foodies bring their especialities
de maison for tastings—everybody is invited.
