US Media Turning Postive Towards Mexico

US Media Turning Postive...

Since the lifeblood of the real estate industry in Mexico is tourism, an article in USA Today last week is fantastic news. Tourism to Mexico in 2010 is nearly equal to the record number of tourists in record-breaking 2008 and up almost 19% over 2009. This bodes very well for the real estate industry in Mexico for 2011. Take a few minutes to read this article and forward it on to potential clients and other agents. Spread the good word. It has been my experience that people who have been coming to Mexico for many years are still coming down because they know Mexico is a safe place to visit. People who may be considering coming down to Mexico for the first time may be fearful of coming to Mexico because they only know what they are reading about - the drug violence. Based on this article, I would say that in addition to the long-time Mexico visitors, there must also be a fair number of new visitors coming to Mexico as well. ...

The Liceaga Vineyard was established in 1983.

Orginally a table grape vineyard, Liceaga began making the transition into producing wines shortly thereafter.

HISTORY
In 1983 the vineyard was established with 10,000 plants and table grapes.  In 1991 the decision was made to convert the table grapes to wine grapes.  This was a process using grafts that was gradually completed by 1997.

Wine production began in 1993 sending the grapes to another source to be processed.  With an increase in production and demand in 1998, they acquired the equipment necessary to develop the wine on site at the vineyard.

Currently the facilities have the ability to produce an estimated 10,000 9 liter cases in 5 years.

In August 2007, Eduardo Liceago Campos the founder of Viña de Liceaga passed away.  His wife Myran Liceaga became the head of the company to maintain the family run winery and ensure the production of excellent wines.

By 1991, Liceaga was finally a full service winery. Along with their Vino Tinto blend of Merlot and Grenache, their house Merlot slightly blended with Cabernet grapes, their Chardonnay, and the Liceaga Gran Reserva Merlot that has won numerous awards, this winery is on it’s way to being a serioius player on the Baja Wine scene.

In January 2008, Liceaga expanded it’s winery and tasting facilities and provide some of the most interesting easy access wine tasting in the Guadalupe Valley

They offer many excellent wines ie.. Gran Reserva Merlot, Sofia, Melvin, Chardonnay, and more

Harvesting is done when the grapes reach their physiological maturity.  The main analytical parameters are 23-25% surgar, 7.0-7.5 grams per liter total acidity, and pH 3.25-3.40

The grapes are packed into boxes of 18 kg, to prevent abuse and preserve fruit quality until arrival at the winery.  The harvest starts early in the morning and is brought carefully to the winery where a stripper separates the grapes from the stalk.  From there the containers holding the fruit are sent to the fermentation tanks.  The fermentation tanks are stainless steel and have a double wall that allows cooling and temperature control.  There the wines are processed with special techniques of maceration and are stirred several times per day.

After the pressing process the wine is transferred into barrels of American or French Oak.  Here the maturation will take a period of 6-24 months.  After a brief clarification with egg whites, it is filtered and then bottled.
