US Media Turning Postive Towards Mexico

US Media Turning Postive...

Since the lifeblood of the real estate industry in Mexico is tourism, an article in USA Today last week is fantastic news. Tourism to Mexico in 2010 is nearly equal to the record number of tourists in record-breaking 2008 and up almost 19% over 2009. This bodes very well for the real estate industry in Mexico for 2011. Take a few minutes to read this article and forward it on to potential clients and other agents. Spread the good word. It has been my experience that people who have been coming to Mexico for many years are still coming down because they know Mexico is a safe place to visit. People who may be considering coming down to Mexico for the first time may be fearful of coming to Mexico because they only know what they are reading about - the drug violence. Based on this article, I would say that in addition to the long-time Mexico visitors, there must also be a fair number of new visitors coming to Mexico as well. ...

Shimul Wines

Vinos Shimul is a winery that is very tough to find.  For this reason they have an office in downtown Ensenada.  The office is located at Avenida Hidalgo # 885 in downtown.  Their wines are showcased at the “623” Restaurant in Ensenada and the GSalinas Wine Boutique in Tijuana.  The vineyard itself is not open to the public.  You can stop by and admire the fields of grapes, but that is about it.

If you care to be adventurous and drive around Valle de Guadalupe finding all of the hidden vineyards, then maybe this is a trip you would like to try and take.  In order to reach the vineyards you have to continue on Route 3.  After coming over the bridge which goes over the usually dry river bed, you will come to a sharp curve to the right after about 1 KM.  There is a road that exits to the right on the curve which takes you to the Colonia of Francisco Zarco.  This is a dirt road which passes many little shops and museums which can be fun to visit.  When you come out of this town you will pass the INAH Community History Museum on your left.  You want to make your second right on a dirt road which would take you to Chateau Comou.  Head up that road and take your first left which will lead you to Vinos Shimul.

The first harvest at Vinos Shimul was in 1990 and was made with Cabernet Sauvignon.  The business aspect of the winery was started in 2000 with the integration of “Albarolo” and “Nebbiolo”.  The wines from this vineyard are made in conjunction with the company Aboriginal S.A. of C.V.

Unfortunately this winery is seemingly off limits to the public, and finding information about them is very difficult.  The offices did not give me many answers, or seem to be interested in publicly explaining themselves and their wine.  Their email address is vinosshimul@gmail.com.  You can also visit their website which unfortunately does not give much information as well.  www.shimul.net.
